Privacy

To protect the privacy and confidentiality of participants, the app will not collect directly identifying information such as participants’ name, phone number, and/or email address. Instead, participants will be provided a study ID number, and they will be asked to enter it at the beginning of the survey. The list that links ID numbers with participants’ information will be stored in a separate password-protected and encrypted database. Only the research staff working directly on the study will have access to the password for this list. The data collected through the app will be stored on a secure password-protected server located at the University of Lethbridge. The research staff working on the project at the University of Lethbridge will be required to complete a confidentiality agreement with the principal investigator at the University of Lethbridge. Similar procedures will be put in place at the other data collection sites.

Because the GAC-PAQ questionnaire is still being developed, only people who have been provided a study ID number will be able to participate in the study. The app will not work without a legitimate ID number.
